Santa's original baby has made it in the record books once again. Eartha rendition of Santa Baby which was released in 1953, has been certified gold by RIAA for having over 500,000 ringtone downloads. This Eartha fan knows very well that Ms. Kitt's voice endures. We love you Eartha. Image is of Eartha Kitt singing Santa Baby for the White House audience. This was in 2007.

Santa's Original Baby

It was 1953 and with the recent success of New Faces of 52 Eartha Kitt was off and running. She recorded Santa Baby in '53 with the line "a 54 convertible too, lite blue". This song was also featured in the soundtrack for "Driving Miss Daisy". Eartha credits this song with giving her financial security.

Books by Eartha

I have had the privilege to see Eartha Kitt live numerous times. I am always amazed how she is able to captivate the audience and have them wrapped around her aura. Don't let her age of 81 bring any prejudices. She puts most artists half her age to shame. I also have a signed copy of her book "Confessions of a Sex Kitten". When she was performing in San Francisco she was gracious enough to take some to time to chat and sign the book, just before going on stage. Much more to the story and seeing her without the makeup and the gowns, but that's another post. Here is a listing of the three autobiographies she has written, and her latests publication regarding aging and staying in shape. The books are filled with insight and offstage tales. A must read for any Eartha fan.

Thursday's Child (pub. 1956)

Alone With Me (pub. 1976)

Confessions of a Sex Kitten (pub. 1989) issued in the UK under the title All By Myself

All three books are filled with vivid pictures highlighting her personal and professional life.

Her latest penmanship is ....

Rejuvenate....It's Never To Late (pub. 2001)

Read any of these books and you will gain insight to one of the most fascinating women of the 20th century. And please, if you haven't already done so....go see her live. It is a must see.

Eartha and her music

Eartha Kitt has been a recording artists since the 50's. She originally signed on by RCA. If you have the chance to listen to her live recordings, I highly recommend them. They are....

Eartha Kitt Live at the Plaza (actually recorded at a live performance in Palm Springs)

Live in London- Great 2 disc set. Probably my favorite of all. Not easy to find, and can be pricey.

Live at the Carlyle- her latest recording issued in 2006.

Eartha Kitt, Emmy Award

Eartha Kitt did it again. She has received her second Emmy for Best Performer in an animated series. She is the voiceover for Yzma in the Emerperor's New School. Keep in mind Eartha Kitt is 81. She has been in show business since the 1940's. Most will remember her as Catwoman in the 1960's Batman series.
